IMB Funding 2018

IMB Community Foundation funding helps keep the Victor Chang Health Check Booth on the road

For the seventh consecutive year, the IMB Community Foundation is supporting the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute Health Check Booth through a $15,000 community grant.

These funds will continue to support the on-road costs of taking the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute Health Check Booth around Australia, providing community members with a quick and reliable heart health check.

Established in 2010, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute Health Check Booth is a mobile heart health testing service helping Australians better understand some of the basic and modifiable risk factors of heart disease in a convenient, private and friendly setting.

Run and operated by trained professional nurses, in just 10 minutes members of the community can walk away with their test results and information on how to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Since 2012, funding from the IMB Community Foundation has enabled the Health Check Booth team to purchase a car and keep this service mobile and accessible to those living in regional locations.

“I am proud that, through IMB Bank Community Foundation funding, we can work in partnership with local groups to provide new facilities, services and support that add tangible value to our communities and create better outcomes for the people living in them,” explained IMB Bank chief executive, Robert Ryan in a recent interview.

The funds have been warmly welcomed by the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute’s Health Check Booth Manager, Jayne Baric.

“We’re thrilled to continue our work with the IMB Bank. Nearly 90% of Australians have at least one modifiable risk factor of heart disease. To try and combat this, our nurses use non-invasive testing equipment to measure blood pressure, total cholesterol and blood sugar levels to guide communities on healthy heart habits.”

To date, the Health Check Booth has tested 3,774 IMB Bank members and guests through this partnership.
