At the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute we are committed to attracting, mentoring, developing and investing in the future of the best students with world leaders in their field as mentors. Our students include:

Each supervisor provides practical, intellectual, emotional support to their student and are role models for their research trainees. They foster a research culture of excellence, integrity, professionalism and mutual respect.

At the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, we encourage a collaborative learning environment through the provision of dedicated weekly research and education seminars, including:

• The Paul Korner Seminar Series (presented by students & post-docs);
• Weekly Education Seminars (presented by Faculty, senior scientists and distinguished scientists, covering specific topics);
• The Barbara Ell Seminar Series (held monthly, with seminars from distinguished Australian scientists);
• Other special seminars, held on an ad hoc basis;
• All of our students have a standing invitation to attend any Garvan/AMR seminars and the annual Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute Symposium;
• Regular lab meetings to discuss the status of research projects.

Together with our on-campus partners, including the Garvan Medical Research Institute, Applied Medical Research and St Vincent’s Hospital, we often host international visitors who present on-site seminars, at lab meetings and in one-on-one meetings with members of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.

Your application should include a cover letter stating the Laboratory or project you are interested in, your CV and your academic transcript. Your application will be sent to the relevant Faculty member for consideration.
