Cut down on salt
Try to choose low-salt foods and use salt sparingly. Eating too much salt can contribute to high blood pressure, which increases the risk of developing coronary heart disease and strokes. Choose fresh foods where possible, including fruit, vegetables, fresh meat and fish, which are naturally low in salt.
