Dr Nikki Bart

Dr Nikki Bart is a heart failure and heart transplant cardiologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney. In addition, she has subspeciality interests in advanced cardiac imaging, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac genetics.

She studied medicine at the University of New South Wales, where she graduated with Honours. For her doctoral work she undertook studies to investigate the effects of iron on the cardiopulmonary system. She was awarded a DPhil from the University of Oxford which was funded by a prestigious Sir John Monash Scholarship. While there is also practiced at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. She is passionate about teaching and has won teaching awards from both Oxford University and the University of New South Wales.

Dr Bart completed her cardiology training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, and a Fellowship in advanced cardiac imaging including cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and CT coronary angiography.

Dr Bart is the lead of the Infiltrative Cardiomyopathy group at St Vincent’s Hospital/Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and has established a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary amyloid clinic. Through the clinic patients are offered specialist cardiology, neurology, and haematology care as well as genetic counselling.

Her research group focuses on causes of cardiomyopathy and heart failure. She was awarded funding from Pfizer to create a dedicated cardiac amyloid research fellow position in 2021.
