Dr Mayooran Namasivayam

Dr Mayooran Namasivayam is a Staff Specialist Cardiologist, Associate Director of Echocardiography and Interventional Echocardiography Specialist at the St Vincent’s Hospital Campus, Sydney, Conjoint Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, UNSW, Sydney and Faculty member of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Clinically, Dr Namasivayam manages patients across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease including valvular heart diseases, systolic and diastolic heart failure, cardiomyopathy and hypertension, and performs cardiac procedural imaging planning and guidance.

Dr Namasivayam graduated medical school from the University of New South Wales with First Class Honours and subsequently completed specialist cardiology training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. He completed a PhD in cardiovascular physiology at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, St Vincent’s Hospital and UNSW. Following this, he spent two years in Boston where he completed a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Advanced Echocardiography at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University.

As Faculty at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, Dr Namasivayam leads research into heart valve diseases combining his expertise in cardiovascular physiology, cardiac imaging and artificial intelligence analytics. He is passionate about facilitating close interactions and collaborations between the scientific precinct of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and the clinical programmes of the cardiology department at St Vincent’s Hospital. He has received several awards from national and international organisations including the American Heart Association, National Heart Foundation of Australia, Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, Royal Australasian College of Physicians, University of New South Wales and St Vincent’s Clinic Foundation.
