Professor Chris Hayward
________
BMedSc, MD, FRACP, FCSANZ
Professor Hayward is a Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, Professor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales, and Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Health, University of Technology Sydney. Research interests include the haemodynamics of cardiac failure and advanced heart failure management with particular interest in the patient-pump optimisation of left ventricular mechanical support devices (artificial hearts).
Professor Hayward's team is working with BiVACOR engineers and other collaborators on a new artificial heart - the world’s first single durable ventricular assist device that supports both ventricles. They are currently conducting studies to prepare the BiVACOR device for heart transplantation.
