The Victor Chang Media Award is Australia's most prestigious award for excellence in reporting and raising awareness about heart disease.

The awards are open to all journalists in Australia. Entries can cover any aspect of heart disease, from research, treatment and prevention to the emotional, social or economic impacts of the condition.

Keeping the public informed of our progress and advances in medical research is very important. We strongly believe the media plays a vital role in educating the public about the impact of heart disease.

The judges have presented the 2018 Victor Chang Media Award to ABC Radio National’s Dr Nomran Swan & James Bullen: "The remote nurse who treated his own heart attack".

Heart disease is still the single biggest killer of all Australians and with continued help from the media, more people will become aware of the devastating effects of this debilitating disease.
