Victor Chang Media Awards 2018

The Victor Chang Media Award is Australia's most prestigious award for excellence in reporting and raising awareness about heart disease.

The awards are open to all journalists in Australia. Entries can cover any aspect of heart disease, from research, treatment and prevention to the emotional, social or economic impacts of the condition.

Keeping the public informed of our progress and advances in medical research is very important. We strongly believe the media plays a vital role in educating the public about the impact of heart disease.

The judges have presented the 2018 Victor Chang Media Award to ABC Radio National’s Dr Nomran Swan & James Bullen: "The remote nurse who treated his own heart attack".

Receiving the 2018 Victor Chang Highly Commended Media Award is:

Simon Bouda, A Current Affair –

"Someone lost their life for me to survive"

Jane Hansen & Jeff Darmanin,  The Sunday Telegraph

"Teacher’s CPR skills saved nine-year-old Cooper Appleyard’s life"
