Past Scientists
Dr Daniela Stock
________
Dr Daniela Stock worked at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute from 2006 to 2016 as the head of the Structural Biology Laboratory.
Before joining the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, she worked at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge as a post-doc from 1996-2000 followed by a group leader from 2000-2006.
Dr Daniela Stock and her team at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute used X-ray crystallography to determine structures of proteins at atomic level to understand their mode of action. One particular protein of interest is an enzyme complex called ATP synthase. The complex is found in all cells and is responsible for conversion of biological energy.
She was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 2016. The Australian Academy of Sciences states that Dr Stock “redefined bioenergetics of the 1990s by solving the x-ray structure of yeast mitochondrial ATP synthase”.

Acknowledgement of Country
The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, the Gadigal of the Eora nation, on which we meet, work, and discover.
Our Western Australian laboratories pay their respect to the Whadjuk Noongar who remain as the ongoing spiritual and cultural custodians of their land.
