Professor David Winlaw


Professor David Winlaw is a paediatric cardiac surgeon specialising in congenital heart disease (CHD) in infants and newborns. He has a long association with the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. He undertook surgical training and completed his PhD here under the mentorship of the Institute’s Professor Peter Macdonald.

Working at the Children’s Hospital Westmead in Sydney and at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Ohio, Professor Winlaw is a long-standing collaborator concerning congenital heart disease research at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. As Honorary Faculty, he works closely with Professor Sally Dunwoodie and Associate Professor Eleni Giannoulatou as they identify the genetic causes of CHD.
