Victor Chang Heart Of Gold Awards

Heart of Gold Awards

Every year, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute honours members of the community who have selflessly gone above and beyond to try and save the life of someone in cardiac peril.

The Institute's Heart of Gold Awards recognise acts of absolute courage when every second counts. Death can occur within minutes of a heart attack or cardiac arrest, without immediate first aid.

Recipients of the Heart of Gold medal receive special recognition for showing strength and composure in the face of crisis, pain or grief – in an effort to prevent death, or irreversible damage to the heart.
